A party statement accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Samajwadi Party of attempting to rake up communal issues for political mileage. "Fortunately, the people of Uttar Pradesh and the country, especially both Muslims and Hindus, after having understood the intention of these parties, have ignored communal politics played by them."

| Teachers and activists: AAP attracts a new kind of Muslim voter. |
Even as it faces the charge of appeasing Muslims, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reached out to the community at an event held in the national capital on Thursday. At the programme, members from the community, which form 11 percent of the city’s population, joined the party in the presence of its convener Arvind Kejriwal.
Rather than religious leaders who are typically wooed by politicians, the AAP has attracted social workers, activists and academicians, all of whom are unanimous in blaming the Congress and the BJP for using religious communities as vote-banks.

Delhi News:Ravi Shankar Prasad, BJP's wild card in Delhi?
The Delhi Assembly Elections in November may see a surprise entry in the race for the BJP’s CM nominee: Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Prasad,
a BJP leader from Bihar and the deputy leader of the party in the Rajya
Sabha, has emerged as a strong contender owing to the party’s poll
strategy.
According to sources, the party’s central leadership wants a
leader from Purvanchal, an area comprising the eastern end of UP and
Bihar.
This would be similar to the move made by the Congress in 1998, when Sheila Dikshit from UP was made the Chief Minister.
